The new Ireland shirt looks amazing and I hope to get the chance to wear it at the Rugby World Cup – that is all I am thinking about right now.

Every player has that bit of excitement whenever they see the new shirt and then the reaction from the fans just adds to it. I can remember being a young boy looking forward to the World Cup, getting the kit and supporting the team and that has only gotten bigger over time as the game has gone from strength-to- strength.

My earliest memory would probably be that, seeing everyone in that iconic green shirt and getting excited for the tournament. As far as everything else goes, it was probably the 2003 World Cup that sticks in the memory the most and Ireland’s journey to the quarter- finals. I was really into my rugby at that age and loved every minute of it, except the defeat to France of course!

So to be part of the whole experience this time around as a player and be on the other side is a dream come true really and a great experience. It is a really exciting time and I don’t think the shirt let us down at all. There isn’t too much different to it in comparison to previous ones but there are a few nice touches which really bring it alive.

The thing I like about it is that it is not too flashy either which is a good thing, it is perfectly down the middle between business and pleasure if you like!

It is every boy’s dream to pull on their national shirt and I have been overwhelmed with everything that comes with that since I first did so just over a year ago. Being able to play in that Ireland shirt has been a dream come true and I love it every time I get to do it and, while I don’t want to get ahead of myself, if I had the chance to do it in a World Cup that would be extra special.

I just need to keep working hard and keep improving and hopefully I will get the chance to do that.

Every nation is the same, they want and will expect that support, but when you look up and see that sea of green in the stands it really brings the best out of you.

That is why I think our shirt is just that little bit special as it is so easily recognisable so hopefully as many people as possible get their hands on one and support us like I know they can.
