Darran O'Sullivan looks forward to an All-Ireland Battle
After a tough battle with Mayo to book a ticket to the All Ireland Final the morale on the team is at an all-time high and the build up to the final has went well. We were given a short break to recover from the Mayo game but have done some testing sessions in the last few weeks to get everyone sharp for the big day in Croke Park this weekend.

I think the fact that the more experienced lads have been here before will help the team deal with the hype and excitement leading up to and on match day. The benefit of being around the block means that we won’t get wrapped up in the off pitch activities and will stay focused on what we need to do in order to win. However Donegal have this experience and they would have experienced an incredible atmosphere in the Semi Final against Dublin last week so we both know the impact of a full house!

The atmosphere in Kerry is incredible at the moment, I think our journey so far with the replay and overtime situation has definitely added to the level of enthusiasm from our fans. It has been a transitional year for Kerry football, with so many players not available due to injury and many choosing to retire. Taking that all on board, I think expectations were lower than usual at the beginning of the year however, after the Munster final there seemed to be a change in Kerry and our fans knew we were capable of going the whole way. Now after our clash with Mayo the belief has gone to a new level!

Personally I’ve had a frustrating year with injuries and this is probably the least amount I have played in a Championship due to these setbacks. After the surgery earlier in the year my body has been moving in different ways but I’ve concentrated on playing my part and contributing when I can to my best ability while trying to get myself right too.

To be honest, I don’t think I could have played in a few matches this season if it wasn’t for my SKINS recovery tights, they have been essential in my recovery process after training and games. Wearing them home while travelling has reduced the time I need to recover without having to worry that I will stiffen up on the journey. Safe to say I sent the boys down to Life Style Sports to pick up a pair after our semi- final replay! And when it comes to my A200 compression shorts… I wouldn’t dream of running without them, I suffer with tight hamstrings and they go into my kit bag before my boots do.

All season long the management have put great trust in the panel and rewarded match time to those that worked hard and performed at training. Their fairness and honest approach towards each player is a big part of why we are in a good position to take on Donegal. We know Donegal we will have our work cut out for us when we face Donegal but we can’t focus on one or two particular people, they have a number of quality players and any one of them can do damage on the day. However, we have a panel of lads with unquestionable talent and determination and we’ll be ready for anything they throw at us. Back to Blog
