Gym Do's and Dont's - Our 12 commandments of Gym Ettiquette

FOLLOW THESE 12 COMMANDMENTS AND YOU'LL BE WINNING MR. OR MS. GYM IN NO TIME.

  • We've all been there, minding our own business in the gym when we bump into someone who obviously hasn't read the rules of decent gym behaviour - and if you haven't been there, we suggest you check our tips just to make extra sure that someone isn't you.

    DO

    Use the mirror to check you're exercising correctly.
  • DON'T

    Use it to pose or eye up the hottie next to you. Either way it's creepy.
  • DO

    Put weights back where you found them.
  • DON'T

    Hog weights and machines like a spoilt, albeit muscly, kid.
  • DO

    Wipe down machines with a towel after you use them.
  • DON'T

    Just think someone else will. Your mum doesn't go there.
  • DO

    Work out your entire body – ask the gym coach for advice if you need it.
  • DON'T

    Skip leg day unless you're going the half Hercules, half Peewee Herman look.
  • DO

    Shower and wash your gym clothes as soon as possible after working out.
  • DON'T

    Needlessly strut naked round the locker-room or use a facecloth as a bath towel.
  • DO

    Switch off your mobile. Your chatter could be distracting someone much bigger than you.
  • DON'T

    Sing along to the music. You're not Celine Dion. Actually, especially if you are Celine Dion.
