Bora Bora Booney Hat

Nice hat, kept me protected from the sun while at the beach. Too bad someone also liked it and too it as their own. I only had it a week.

It was hard to tell how the colors would look in person; I liked light raisin best.

TERRIBLE HAT. After a wash, the hat lost all forms of its original shape. The brims are FLOPPY. I CANNOT SEE wearing this hat because the hat's brims flop down to my eyes. Unless you plan on never washing this hat, DO NOT PURCHASE IT. After having it stored for several months, I recently began wearing it out and therefore washed it. Called warranty about the problem, and despite explaining all this--well, I am less than 2 months over the 1-year warranty and apparently there is ABSOLUTELY NOTHING they can do. I have purchased other products from Columbia and am very disappointed in the way they have decided NOT TO stand behind their product. If they had confidence in their product, they would stand behind it regardless of it being 2 months after warranty period. I got 3 uses out of this hat. Now I will have to throw it away because it interferes with my outdoor activities rather than enhancing the experience. Looks like I should have read the low ratings on this hat before making the purchase. I just trusted Columbia's quality. The least I can do is share my experience to help others make better purchases.

Exceeds expectations. First time out with his hat I did a six and a half hour run in 88° weather with 50% humidity the hat saved the day.

I just received this perfect sun hat and the brim is just right. The draw cord is the main reason I liked this hat to wear on windy days and beachy marine blue color is fun. Nice quality and hand washable.

The materials and technical features of the hat are as advertised, it's well constructed and it fits well. However, the brim flaps a LOT in any significant breeze. It either whips up and down like a flag or stands straight up in a headwind, effectively losing all sun protection for my face and eyes. Maybe booney hats are like this in general, but this particular one is a no go for me.

I won't buy one size fits all hats, so quit emailing me.

I purchased this hat for outdoor activities (hiking, kayaking, gardening, etc.) I wore it for a week on the beach and it was great. Lightweight, cooling, comfortable.

agree with others, shipped in an envelope and hat was stuffed inside. has some creases - all in different directions so it makes the had shape weird. It's high on one side and low on the other. looking forward to trying it, but fix the shipping. i give the hast 5 stars and shipping 2 stars

Love the hat, but I can't wear it because it arrived completely crumpled and the brim is bent in a way that it cannot be reshaped. Complete waste of money. If it could be shipped in a BOX instead of an envelope that would solve the problem.

This is the 2nd hat I have purchased in this style. I am outdoors everyday teaching PE and it really protects my face and neck from the sun.
The reason for the 3 stars is the method used to ship this one. My first hat was shipped flat. There was no problem with the brim. The brim naturally gets a little floppy in a cute way. This one was shipped folded on 2 sides of the brim in a rectangular shape. When I saw how it was shipped I was concerned because when I put it on the brim hung horribly like a box on my head. I tried putting heavy things on it to re shape it, I tried washing it and putting weight on it to flatten it, I washed it many times. It is a little better but it still hangs horribly. I am wearing it a lot hoping to wear it out.
Please make sure that your hats are shipped flat.

I love this hat! I wanted a hat to wear in the boat this summer. This hat has it all-
large brim to shade the sun-SPF 50 rating- vented for added cooling-chin strap so it doesn't fly off my head. Just what I needed. Highly recommend.

I absolutely love this hat! I purchased the red Bora Bora II Booney. The color is rich and will brighten up any outfit. It's stylish and functional.
The brim is sturdy yet pliable. The toggle to tighten the hat is located in the back and isn't cheaply made. The mesh on top of the hat wraps around 3/4 of the circumference and is wide enough to allow air flow.
I would recommend this hat!!

I was looking for a comfortable, lightweight hat that provides full sun protection, and I have found it!

This hat works nicely while working in the yard or just lounging in the pool. It's light weight and keeps your head and face protected from the sun. The SPF is also nice too.

My husband has a large head and so he was taking a chance in ordering this hat. It fits! But, it also fit my small head. Yep. There is a stretchy cord that runs through the hat that you can cinch in or release all the way out to accommodate any size head. The hat came when we had a couple of friends over and we all put in on and it fit and looked go on everyone. He bought the grill color. He has shorts and my son has pants in that color - very versatile color.

This hat is annoying because there's no way to anchor the chin strap inside the hat when it's not in use. Most hats like this one have a Velcro tab or elastic loop to hole it in place. But Columbia wanted to save a couple cents on each hats and we're left with fumbling each time we put it on to keep it from dangling out the back or in front of our eyes.

The hat is crappy because the first time you get it wet the brim loses all its shape. From then on it sags, limo as a dishrag, blocking your vision and making the hat unusable.

I just bought a colorful kayak and my hat matches! this hat is functional (wide brim keeps sun off face and neck) and breathes and has a tie to help keep it from blowing off.

I purchased the Bora Bora™ II Booney hat for my husband, who requires a large size hat. This fit snuggly and he really liked wearing it while kayaking. It is very light weight, well vented, stays put, shades nicely, and is a handsome looking hat. The color "grill" is exactly as shown.

This is my 3rd one. I use these for everything from cutting the grass to going hiking in the mountains. Great way to keep cool while enjoying the great outdoors. This won't be my last one of these....buy the way still have all 3 so they are made to last!

I previously purchased one of these hat's from a competitor. This one is so much better. Love the ventilation mesh!!!

Does what it says it does. Solid. Comfortable. Blocks the sun and wicks the sweat and keeps the head cool. I dig that it has a draw string to tighten up when fishing or hiking in windy conditions.

I love this hat. I now have 5. I wear it on my walk every morning and they hold up very well. Keep the sun off my face and shoulders. I highly recommend this product

Great hat to protect your face, head and ears from the sun. This is the second one I bought as the first was worn for 3 years and washed dozens of times. I needed and new one!

Bought this to wear to beach and shade head. It is a bit large for me, but can tightened it up to fit. Is lightweight and well made. Only complaint is clasp in back to adjust size pokes you in the back of head if you rest your head back. I just turn it backwards when reclining and it works well.

I ordered two of these hats - one for me and one for my wife. We both like spending time outside in our yard and gardens. Our reason for ordering these products was to keep the sun off our heads and protect us. These hats are cool and comfortable and do help keep the sun off our heads. However, the brim is a bit too flimsy and sags down over your eyes when slightly wet from perspiring. It's not a deal breaker but it would be extremely helpful to have a bit more rigidity to the brim. Otherwise the hat is great.

The hat is very light weight and "airy" feeling and definitely serves it purpose in keeping me cool. The only thing I would love to see is if the rim were a little more rigid. Sometimes I'm wearing the hat, and the front of the rim sags down, partially obstructing my view. Not a deal breaker though. I still love the hat.

Purchased two Bora Bora II Booneys for my wife and myself. Used them on a week-long vacation on Beaver Island, Michigan. The hats were comfortable and provided excellent protection from the blazing sun and warm temperatures. Our heads were also afforded protection from occasional biting insects.

Looking forward to using them again in future outdoor adventures.

I bought this hat for myself (I'm a woman) but my male partner ended up wearing it. He has difficulty finding hats that fit his larger than average head and this hat, because it is adjustable, works great for him. I haven't had a chance to wear the hat yet and I suspect I never will :)

This hat is awesome. It covers your face without blocking your eyesight. It has a string so it will not fly off. You can also adjust the hat size.

I recently purchased this hat with little hope that it would actually fit because I have a very big head. Most hats that say one size fits all don't fit me. But this booney is great. Very lightweight and breathable material and keeps the sun out of my eyes and off my neck. Love this hat, would definitely buy again.

I bought this hat for a variety of reasons: I wanted it for yard work, the dog park, hiking, floating and more. So far I have used it for hiking, the dog park, a beach trip and yard work. I LOVE this hat! It packs easily, is light weight, matches everything and does its job - blocks the sun and vents my sweaty head! I still sweat, but instead of it building up, the vents allow my head to breath and cool down. I love the adjustable chin and head straps - they allow quick adjustments for wind, comfort, and to secure. I have wanted a sun hat that was straw, but never found one I liked that would also stay on, so I went with his one instead and I have ZERO REGRETS!

It's perfect exactly what I wanted. Probably going to order another one in a different color soon

Bought this for my father in law for this past Father's Day. He loves it. He says it provides the perfect sun coverage on his face without obstructing his vision.

I purchased this for my husband to use while he's cutting grass or while outdoors. It helps keep the sun directly off his head and that's what I wanted (shhhh). He is kind of picky, but He's been wearing it every time he's outdoors. So, I know he loves it.

I always have trouble finding One size fits all hats, that fit my 23-1/2" head , but this hat has been what I was looking for. I still have room to adjust when needed. Provides the shade and cooling need outside in the heat.

This is my second purchase of this hat as the first one is well over 5 years old and been through numerous AZ summer days (recreation and yard work) and in and out of the pool. I wear an XL hat and this one fits great. The only issue I had was the packaging for shipping - the brim got folded over and there's a pretty good crease in the brim that has been very tough to get rid of. Hoping the AZ sun will fix that. Otherwise, a great, breathable, light weight hat.
