Simply great!! cool look and comfortable, at last sneakers that my daughter approves

Coincidentally, I moved to NYC and have been walking around the city a *lot*. My feet were killing me, and the sneakers I had been wearing just weren't cutting it. They weren't supportive enough, and the EVA foam would start breaking down after 2-3 weeks of heavy wear.

I tried on a few different pairs, including several New Balances that everyone seems to recommend. Nothing really worked for me. Either the foam felt like it was going to break down again, or they just weren't comfortable.

I told my wife, "I wish I could find a pair of shoes like the ones I used to run in back in my track days. Something that feels like stepping into a cloud, but still has a firm road feel."

Then I remembered what I used to run in: ASICS Nimbus, somewhere around the 3-12 models. I used to buy four pairs at a time and rotate through them. I'm not a huge fan of the modern Nimbus, which feels too foamy for my taste, so you can imagine my delight when I realized ASICS had essentially brought back the feel of those mid-2000s running shoes and updated them with higher-end materials as a lifestyle sneaker.

They absolutely nailed it.

The GEL-NYC 2.0 is cushioned without feeling mushy, supportive without feeling stiff, and has that firm, planted road feel I remembered from my old running shoes. After walking around NYC in them, my feet finally stopped complaining.

I'm genuinely thrilled with these. The next time I catch them on sale, I'm buying four pairs. I expect they'll last considerably longer than my old running shoes since I'm not putting 70 miles a week on them anymore.

But man, these are perfect. Exactly what I was looking for.

ASICS has some of the best looking shoes on the market, and that's coming from a sauced up white boy with a little bit of juice. I've got a pair of asics gel nimbus running shoes and now these sportstyle Gel-NYC 2.0. While I love the style of both, I wish the sizes were more accurate to other brands. My gel nimbus are a size 11.5 and feel great while running, but feel like clown shoes any other time I wear them. I sized down to an 11 for NYC 2.0s and can't help but feel like I'm wearing a 10.5. I hope in the future a size 11 can actually feel like an 11. Or maybe ASICS will accommodate a fly guy like myself and make a size 11.25.

Runs Very Small, never had that issue with Asics...

Best pair of casual sneakers I've bought. I've worn them almost every day since I've bought them. The sole is incredibly comfortable and cushioning. A lot more squishy than other asics retro pairs I own.

I don't run or play sports but for me, these sneakers are very comfortable and have plenty of cushionung for general wear around town and walking in stores and outside w dogs.

I have worn Nike's since I was a teenager…I'm 46 and started to have back pain, I was advised to try a different sneaker and these Asic NYC 2.0 shoes totally helped my pain! I bought the black, grey and blue, and other grey/blue with yellow ones! So comfortable. Feels like I am stepping on a cloud.

Came in the mail extremely quick . And super comfy, i feel like im walking on clouds.

they are chunky and comfortable but look a lot more like dad shoes on foot than in pics. perfect for walking your dog around the neighborhood or watering the lawn

I really loved the feel on foot. They are soft and comfortable. The exterior look was not what I was hoping for when I saw it in-person. It reminded me of a dad-look. For this reason I decided to return it. But if they come out with nicer color silhouettes, I'll consider purchasing.

Not gonna lie, big W for ASICS marketing . . . I grabbed the Gel-NYC 2.0 (Gravel/Cream colorway) because of the Takehiro Hira janitor dancing ad! The runtime on the ad is short, but man, it really sold me. It had Takehiro Hira's seal of approval, he looked cool as wearing them, and the ad's message was clear: the Gel-NYC 2.0 is a sneaker for anyone.

My go-to lifestyle sneaker for the last 3 years has been the New Balance 993 (grey), so I'm always using it as a benchmark for comparison.

- AESTHETIC: While the New Balance 993's colorway is clean, subtle, and smart-casual, I like that the ASICS Gel-NYC 2.0's leans more fun, joyful, and active. It's a retro-lifestyle sneaker that has a mix of subtle color (with the blue/grey layers) with a pop of personality (with the neon yellow at the sole). At first, I was worried I wasn't going to like the neon yellow on the shoe, but seeing it in person, I LOVE IT. Without that pop of yellow, I think the colorway would be a little boring. It looks like a simple shoe that you could've grabbed from your local discount sporting goods store - but taking a closer look at the details, knowing there's FFBlast+ cushioning, and seeing the suede layers vs. fake metallic details . . . it's a beaut! It's a shoe that's not trying to look too flashy, but it's subtly is! Ultimately, I love that both the NB 993 & ASICS Gel-NYC 2.0 go with everything. The only main difference - the ASICS Gel-NYC 2.0 looks a little more fun!

- COMFORT: The New Balance 993's firmness-to-cushioning ratio feels 80/20, making it feel super stable, while still being a great ride for all-day comfort. It's been such a reliable shoe for any trip I go on where I know there's going to be a ton of walking. On the other hand, the ASICS Gel-NYC 2.0's firmness-to-cushioning ratio feels more like 45/55, feeling softer, but (and I can't stress this enough) STILL STABLE. With the addition of FFBlast+ compared to the original Gel-NYC model, you can ABSOLUTELY feel the difference in the level of comfort. The FFBlast+ provides the comfort of a modern lightweight ASICS running shoe, but it's not nearly as squishy. Most importantly, it doesn't feel like I'm going to roll an ankle.

I love these shoes. Testing them out for the first time felt like going on a first date & thinking, "...could this be the one?" These shoes feel like they're going to last a long time with regular wear; but looking out for my future self, I just bought a second pair in the same colorway so I have nothing to worry about.

Very comfortable and quality is amazing. These are my go to for recovery after a very long on my feet working. The gel technology is A+

I got my normal size and they were way too tight in the toe. Returned for a 1/2 size up and they're much better and wearable, but I can still even feel a bit of rubbing. Pretty surprised because I do not have wide feet at all and have worn my usual size in Asics before. They look awesome - great colors & style. Definitely order 1/2 size up.

The sneakers are fine; comfy, well made. I placed the order on February 10th. A week went by no updates, nothing. The order e-mail did say they were doing "system maintenance". I called customer service and she told me there was nothing she could do. Their system was undergoing maintenance for approximately five days. The entire system was not accessible. Five days? What kind of system maintenance takes five days? How were they able to even process my order if their system is down? The sneakers shipped about seven days after the order was placed and was promptly lost by the carrier. For days it was "on the way with no update available". I called customer service again and asked for a coupon or something for the delays. They were rude and irritable and said no, it wasn't Asics fault. On Feb 23 the sneakers arrived...box all trashed, ripped. Thankfully the sneakers were okay. Never again, Asics.

Beautiful color way and a fit that is true to size.

These shoes are super comfortable and they look great. A little snug for wide feet but not debilitating. I'm going to see if there are any good color ways in the future because I would absolutely buy another pair
