Bora Bora Printed Booney Hat

The hat is well made, size adjustable and lightweight. I like that the brim isn't floppy but is a nice size to give shade to a face. It will roll up to pack away if needed. All in all would buy this again.

Nice hat and adjustable to fit my small head. Brim is a bit smaller than expected and flaps up in the wind though the cuteness of the hat makes up for that.

Bought this for my partner to match the sweater, it's very light weight and cool.

Columbia folded the hat in quarters and shipped it in a thin plastic envelope. The hat is creased and misshapen. I was really looking forward to wearing this hat but at $40 and nearly 2 weeks to arrive, it looks like it came from a yard sale. Do better Columbia.

Colors don't match catalog. Hat bill flimsy and bent to fit in packaging. Knew before I got it out of the bag it was not suitable. After return I will have spent $12.00 for nothing.

I shopped several stores looking for a good sun hat that was comfortable. Many of the modern light weight hats give me a "head ache" due to the narrow pressure band created by the lack of structure and drawcord. This Columbia hat has a comfortable fit and all the benefits of being cool and light. However the minute the wind blew in my face the brim blew up eliminating any sun blocking benefits. If you are on the beach or in a boat etc your face will be exposed. Perhaps there should be two SPF ratings. One for the material and one for the design.

Was worried that light green edging piping would make it look like a highway construction worker safety vest. It fine, not that bright, hat overall has a nice forest green camo look.

The size?

I have about a 59.55 cm head, it just fits, no cord in the back adjustment needs to be used. I believe the Bora Bora II is slightly bigger, so if a 60 cm plus you might want to go with that.

I really like the print camo on this one, so. I went with it, as I say it fits. It's very light weight. Lot of sun brim overhang.

It's a Boonie, the brim on a boonie is meant to break up the silhouette of the face, so expect a wavy brim, hippie look.

I'm not sure if you would wear this surf fishing in a stiff wind, Boonies are not designed for that. It's brim is typical soft, probably useful in the jungle, or woods were a stiff brim would constantly get hit, knocking the hat off. Hat designs are trade offs on conditions.

A stiff cowboy brim would blow your hat off surf fishing, it is why I own 4-5 different styles.

Around where I saltwater fish, the wind drops to about zero for the hot summer months, a fishing bucket hat too hot as you wear it like a bell, head deep in it, stiff brim. So a Boonie is nice to have in those conditions.

A bucket fishing hat is probably more useful in surf fishing in heavy wind, which would help cool the less cool efficient bucket hat.

Basically pick your hats for the conditions.

I bought two of these hats and one of them was defective - the white headband points downward rather than upwards and shows when you wear the hat. Even though the hat was defective, Columbia still wanted me to pay for return shipping. Not cool, Columbia. Not cool.

The Bora Bora Printed Booney Hat is by far my favorite hat. I wear it everywhere. The woods, the beach, grocery store, anywhere! And the sweet colorful prints are what makes this very capable hat even better. Can't tell you how many compliments I have gotten. Bought one, then fell in love with the other color and whammo, I have two now lol. Love Love Love these.
