This week, Fit Force team member Lauren from our Swords Pavilions store reviews the super colourful Nike LunarEclipse 5 trainer. Lauren is an avid runner, swimmer and all- round fitness fanatic! Check out her review and get some great information on the Nike LunarElipse 5 trainer below:
I couldn’t wait to try out the Nike LunarEclipse 5 as I’d heard so many great reviews of these trainers, especially in terms of comfort and support. First of all, this runner definitely looks the part! The cerise pink colour with the leopard print Nike Swoosh makes for a show- stopping trainer which really stands out from the crowd. Whether I was wearing these trainers out running or while working instore, they’d looked fantastic and I got so many compliments on them. While brightly coloured trainers are really popular right now, the Nike LunarEclipse 5 isn’t just about being on- trend; as I found out, it’s a hard- working stability trainer which offers a smooth run from start to finish.
As a keen runner, I know that wearing the right footwear is essential. Having the right footwear for your foot strike maximises performance while minimizing the risk of injury. As I am an over- pronator (meaning my feet tend to roll inwards slightly when they hit the ground when running), the stability of the Nike LunarEclipse 5 trainers were ideal for me! They feature a Dynamic Support system to correct over- pronation, with a soft Lunarlon layer underfoot for impact protection - perfect for road running! Over the course of a week, I ran about 20K in the Nike LunarEclipse 5’s, on both hard and soft surfaces and Dynamic Support system paired with the Lunarlon cushioning never failed to deliver a noticeably more comfortable, responsive run.
While the Nike LunarEclipse 5’s offer great support and cushioning, they’re also unbelievably lightweight, thanks to the unique engineered mesh upper. This mesh upper is deceptive – it looks quite thin but in reality, it provides seamless, breathable support and protection while the signature ‘Flywire’ cables mould to the shape of your foot, locking it in place for even greater stability. I really noticed the difference running in these trainers compared to what I would usually wear, which is a lot heavier and chunkier. I could clearly feel the support throughout my runs which gave me the motivation to keep going! As the weather is so unpredictable in Ireland, having a trainer that offers good traction on all surfaces is a key factor. It was quite wet when I ran, but pressure- mapped outsole meant that the Nike LunarEclipse 5 stuck to those roads perfectly.
I thoroughly enjoyed running in the Nike LunarEclipse 5 trainer and was impressed with both its performance and styling. I would recommend this to an intermediate runner looking for an extra comfortable, stability trainer. I usually cover distances of about 5K, three to four times a week and would consider these runners ideal. The incredible support, particularly around my heels and ankles, paired with the Flywire system that held my foot in place has me looking forward to lacing up the Nike LunarEclipse 5 trainers again and hitting the roads for my next run!
