Definitely an upgrade
I received this as a Mother's Day gift since I am super active and my Apple Watch was dying before the end of the day. I'm able to go almost a full week on one full battery charge. So I'm able to track my sleep and daily activity at ease. I love the breakdown information garmin gives about my workouts. It's definitely worth every penny.

Good for fitness. No sleep detected
I bought this from the Garmin site about a month ago. I like most things about this. However. I have not been able to make the sleep detection work. And the customer service is not humans.

Overall good watch
Reliable, versatile and has many nice features. Still not clear about the Body Battery information. Wish the pool lap counter included kickboard laps. Maybe in the next model.

so far so great!
I have had my watch for about 2 weeks, and I am continually surprised by the number of things that it does. I am very happy with this product and am so happy that I made this purchase.

love it so far
I have been using this watch for a couple of weeks now and so far I love it so much. The screen has such a sharp, clear image on it and I have no complaints about the tracking features. I still need to try out the coaching function and see what I think of the workouts.

Great Watch
It has all the features I want and a brilliant AMOLED screen. I purchased the blue version and have received compliments on the looks.

Disappointing
Coming from a VivoActive 3, the 5 tends to disappoint. The battery does not seem comparable. I get about the same battery life on my new 5 as I got on my 5 year old 3. To maintain a second hand on the screen at all times is now not possible with the face I like (it wasn't a problem or a battery drain on the 3). The updated menus seem to take longer to get to and get through. The physical markers around the watch face are now at 10 second intervals instead of 5. The lighting at night is not intuitive. The brightness apparently isn't capable of going to lowest brightness when on Auto. Sometimes it detects sleep and goes into sleep mode (turning the watch face off which then requires touch to see the watch vs just motion on the 3. Sometimes it doesn't detect sleep, so the watch face stays on.

I understand these things are small and nitpicky, but they are quality of life features I really came to love on my 3. I am considering returning the 5 and going back to the 3 with hopes of the battery lasting a few more years.

Mostly unimpressed
The two control buttons are not very cooperative and lack a positive action when I attempt to control the watch. I'm likely to ask for my money back because it's so difficult to use. I have a Vivoactive 3 and have loved it. I thought that the snappy color screen would be cool on the 5. Yeah, it is cool, but navigating around various functions isn't intuitive at all and two weeks into owning it, I'm pretty well done with the frustration.
